The Interpreting Preferences of Contemporary Chinese Literature Overseas

Due to the differences in concerns and positions, overseas readers are different from Chinese readers in their focus and interpretation of contemporary Chinese literature. In their reading experience and text interpretation, overseas readers prefer to associate Chinese writers and works with western counterparts, isolate Chinese literature from Chinese history and culture, take it as a way to understand China, and highlight its ideological significance. The western reading preferences, Chinese should neither ignore nor take uncritically. While promoting an effective dialogue between overseas criticism and home commentary, we should make an effort to voice our own indigenous criticism.
