《红楼梦》中服饰文化的可译性限度浅析——纪念曹雪芹诞辰300周年

On the English Translatability Limits of the Dress Culture in A Dream of Red Mansions——To Commemorate the 300th Anniversary of the Birth of Cao Xueqin

今年是我国著名文学家曹雪芹诞辰300周年,曹雪芹、高鹗创作的长篇小说《红楼梦》是中国古典小说的巅峰之作,它是属于中国的,也是属于世界的,具有很高的文学价值和无法比拟的研究价值。《红楼梦》中的服饰描写反映了清朝当时的社会风貌及我国的传统文化,折射出了服饰的社会文化内涵。以杨宪益、戴乃迭夫妇《红楼梦》译本的服饰英译为例,在文化层面上从服饰的色彩、质料和款式三个角度,探讨服饰文化的可译性限度,以促进曹雪芹文化艺术在世界其他国家的传播。

The year 2015 is the 300 th anniversary of the birth of the famous writer Cao Xueqin in the Qing Dy-nasty of China. His novel A Dream of Red Mansions is the pinnacle of Chinese classical novels with high value in both the literature and the research. The description of the dress in this novel reflects the social style, the cultural connotation and the traditional Chinese culture in the Qing Dynasty. Taking the dress translation in Yang Xianyi and Gladys Yang’ s version - A Dream of Red Mansions for example, the limited dress cultural translatability in the color, the material and the pattern will be analyzed at the cultural level respectively for the spread of Cao Xueqin’ s culture and arts in the world.
