葛水平作为一个山西当代新锐女性作家,在其众多乡村题材的小说中,继承了以往的艺术传统,通过现实主义笔法来表现现实社会,但同时又突破了传统的现实主义,在艺术手法上融入了新的写作手法,使现代派文学的象征手法成为其小说重要的构成因素。因此主要从死亡意象、风俗意象、伤残人物这三个方面来探讨象征手法在葛水平小说中的运用,并分析其对小说的作用和影响,从而透析出葛水平对苦难人生的领悟、健全人性的向往、社会现实的理解等。

Ge Shuiping as a contemporary young female writer in Shanxi, in her many rural novels, inherits artistic traditions of the past. The novel shows what the real society through the realistic writing style. mainly discusses the application of symbolism in the novels of Ge Shuiping from the three aspects： the death images, custom images and disable people. It also analyze its roles and influences to the novel, which aims to analyze Ge Shuiping＇s comprehensive misery life, the yearning of sound humanity, the understanding of the social reality and so on.
