On Halliday's Phonological Views

韩礼德作为一位功能主义语言学大师,其成就引人注目。然而,其对于音系学的贡献,却很少有人提及。韩礼德的音系学把形式和语音实体结合起来,关注语法和语调的关系,语法和重音的关系,认为语调不仅是清楚表达或者准确发音的问题,而且是语义的不同表达方式,实际上也是语法系统的一部分。韩礼德的系统音系学发端于Firth的韵律音系理论,是一种描述性的音系理论,强调用语义选择中的层次化网络来链接和选择语音模式关系,它是系统功能语法不可或缺的一部分。

As a great master of linguistics on functionalism,Halliday＇s achievement is very striking. However,his contribution to phonology is rarely mentioned. Halliday combines forms with phonetic entities in his phonological ideas,concerns the relation between grammar and intonation,grammar and stress,and he believes that intonation is not only the problem of clear expression or accurate articulation,but also a different way of expression on meanings,which are actually part of grammar. Systemic phonology,a kind of descriptive phonological theory,which emphasizes the hierarchical network to link and select the relations of phonetic models in semantic selection,originates from Firth＇s prosodic phonological theories,and is an integral part of Systemic Functional Grammar.
