摘要
This paper gives a brief introduction to Arthur Miller and his Death of a Salesman and analyses the thematic significance of this drama.We will discuss how the American dream came into being in the dimensions of religion,politics and economy,and how the tragedy of the American dream is reflected in Willy's mind and the causes of such a tragedy which reveals that the mere pursuit of wealth results in spiritual exhaustion and brings about tragedies.It calls on people to pay close attention to the value of life,the fate of the mankind and the future of society and to ponder on them so that man can make for a perfect realm.
