Joint-crotch Li or Bag-legged Li——A Dilemma in Exploring the Proto-Zhou Culture

本文概述了1949年之后的先周文化探索成果,特别是分析了以邹衡、徐锡台、胡谦盈、张长寿、尹盛平为代表的老一辈学者以及以刘军社、张天恩、雷兴山为代表的年轻一代学者在此问题上贡献得失、学术观点的异同及其原因。学术史研究表明,先周文化探索所面临的困境,与其说是材料的,毋宁说是理论与方法的。先周文化探索有可能成为考古学文化与族属研究的典范,为中国考古学在这一研究领域取得理论突破。

This paper will discuss the numerous achievements in the study of Proto-Zhou culture after 1949. Especially focusing onthe academic contributions, and the various theoretical interpretations proposedbetween the older generation, such as Zou Heng, Xu Xitai, Hu Qianying, Zhang Changshou, Yin Shengping, and the younger generation, such as Liu Junshe, Zhang Tian＇en and Lei Xingshan.It is the author＇sopinion that thevariation in theorywas due totheoretical and methodological influences rather than material. The exploration of Proto-Zhou culture may bean example of eulture,ethnicity, andtheoretical breakthrough in the field of archaeology.
