Through empirical analysis of panel data in the seventeen provinces which take up over 80 percent FDI in China, this paper finds that the influence of FDI from different areas on per-capita emission of carbon dioxide in China varies significantly: The regional analysis finds that FDI from HK and US have a remarkably positive effect on per-capita emission of carbon dioxide in China while FDI from England,France and Germany which are the key members in EU,negatively affect it significantly. In addition,FDI from Japan,Korea,Singapore and Taiwan has a negative effect as well but not significant. The regional analysis suggests that, compare to the middle and the west region,FDI in the east region affects the emission of carbon dioxide in the local area more and has the Matthew Effect.
