Army Literature and Art Need Share the Same Breath with the People

中国人民解放军不是一般的社会人群,它是为贯彻党的意志、实现人民利益、承担党交给的政治任务的武装集团。这就要求我们的军队文艺要有战斗力标准。检验我们军队文艺作品的优秀与否不能以"国际承认"与否为标准,而要以能鼓励起战士的士气和作战精神为原则。军队文艺所担负的特殊的历史责任,要求我们军队文艺工作要最大可能地贴近战场实战。习近平主席要求我们的文艺作品要有时代担当,军队文艺工作者要向这个方向努力。

The Chinese People＇ s Liberation Army （PLA） is not a common social group. It is an armed group that implements the CPC＇s will, realizes the interests of the people, and shoulders the political responsibilities assigned by the CPC. This requires our army literature and art have the battle effectiveness standard, and it is not the ＂international acknowledgement＂ but the ＂encouragement for a soldier＇s morale and fighting spirit＂ that tests whether our military literary and art works are good or not. The special historical responsibility of army literature and art requires us to be as close as possible to the battlefield. Chairman Xi Jinping demands our literary and artistic productions take the responsibility of the era, consequently army literary and art workers need make great efforts toward this direction.
