Introduces the R&D background and the main contents of the Capability Maturity Model for Operations and Maintenance. From bottom to top, this Capability Maturity Model includes a number of levels, which are the basic level, expanded level, improved (synergistic) level and enhanced (quantified) level. Analyzes several applications of this model and comes to the conclusion that it can be used for self-assessment of the operation and maintenance service providers, external evaluation of a third-party assessment service provider and diagnostic evaluation of a consulting institution.
