On Values of Nature in North American Dystopian Novels

当代北美反乌托邦小说通过大量使用时空对比、观念对比、人物对比等来描绘传统文明中的生态智慧,以此创造文本厚重的历史意识,突显两种社会中世界观、价值观的变化,以及对自然的不同态度,从生态的角度重新定义文明,重估其价值。这与传统文明虽然大相径庭,甚至许多方面相互冲突,但在自然面前都怀着尊重或者敬畏的态度,强调与自然和谐相处,人类应顺应而不是违背自然规律,并且都彰显了大自然蕴藏着无限潜力并对人类具有启示和拯救意义的主题。

The North American dystopian novels tend to adopt the extensive measures of spatial and temporal contrast, concepts contrast and characters contrast to get deep insight into the ecological wis- dom of traditional civilizations. With these strategies, they create a profound historical consciousness to highlight the opposite values in the different imaginary worlds, and express the opposite attitudes to nature. Through these divergences they manage to redefine some traditional civilizations and revaluate them. Although traditional civilizations are quite different in many aspects, even to some extent con- flicting with each other, they show their reverence and awe when facing nature. They emphasize the harmony between man and nature, implying that man should not violate the laws of nature.
