摘要
《布鲁斯特街的女人们》是美国当代非裔女作家格罗丽亚·内勒的处女作。当前关于内勒该部作品的研究主要集中于宏观的层面,即以整体的视角剖析黑人女性受到的压迫和黑人女性间的姐妹情谊,而很少将注意力集中于小说中的某一个具体角色。主人公玛蒂的母亲形象在该书中有着充分的体现。文章运用女性主义、妇女主义的相关理论和母性观点分析玛蒂的自然母亲形象和社区母亲形象,并指出其社区母亲形象的来源、积极影响和缺失,进而判断出《布鲁斯特街的女人们》中的玛蒂是一个成功的母亲形象。
The Women of Brewster Place is the maiden work of black female writer Gloria Naylor. In this novel,it is not hard to find out that the womanhood of the protagonist Mattie is clearly demonstrated. Based on some relevant feminist and womanist theories and some other ideas concerning womanhood,this paper analyzes Mattie＇s image as a natural mother and a community mother and points out the origin,positive influence and deficiency of her motherhood and then tries to evaluate whether Mattie is a successful mother.
