This paper aims to explore the application model of length approach in QQ zone and tries to compare its effects with traditional length approach carded out in the classroom. The subjects were 124 freshmen of non-Eng- lish majors from two classes who were divided into two groups-one target group using length approach in QQ zone and one control group with the same approach in regular classroom. The results show that both approaches have positive effects in improving learners' writing ability. However, the length approach in the QQ zone is superior in increasing learners' motivation and self-confidence. And the target group gained higher language proficiency as compared to that in the control group. The two approa- ches show no differences in promoting learner autonomy. The study can be of some significance in guiding the ap- plication of net-based length approach.
