从美国《兰汉姆法》看法律英语词汇特点

On Lexical Features of Legal English:Taking(Lanham Act)as an Example

以美国联邦商标法《兰汉姆法》为考察蓝本,可知法律英语除了专业术语繁多的显著特征之外,在词汇方面还具有区别于其他语种法律语言的三大特点:使用古英语、中古英语及外来语;使用近义词组;频繁使用规约性情态动词shall。本文还对以上词汇特点的形成原因作了探析。

The paper,on the basis of Lanham Act,discusses three lexical features of legal English,including the usage of Old English,Middle English and borrowed words;the usage of tautology and the frequent usage of＂shall＂.With the discussion,the paper aims to find out the causes of those lexical features of legal English.
