The Edo period (1603--1867) is the most prosperous historical period in Japan in terms of studies of The Book of Songs. In the short span of 260 years, there were more than 500 writings about The Book of Songs, overtaking China in the same period. With the change of social mainstream culture, the studies of The Book of Songs experienced three changes. They are: the domination of Zhuzi Poetry, the independence and formation of characteristics of Japanese poetry, and the renaissance of sinology of The Book of Songs. From these three stages,we can not only see the Chinese influence on the changes of Japanese studies of The Book of Songs ,but also can feel the importance of The Book of Songs in the cultural construction of Japan's Edo period.
