摘要
马六甲英华书院是晚清来华新教传教士创办的第一所教会学校,也是第一所中文学校。为实现培养来华传教士这一最终目标,书院从创办伊始便在制度保障、资源配备、师资力量、教学内容等方面采取一系列措施以确保汉语教学的顺利开展。书院的汉语教学不但为近代中西交流造就了一批精通中文的汉学人才,也推动了近代教会教育事业和西方汉学的蓬勃发展。
The Anglo-Chinese College at Malacca was the first missionary school established by the early Protestants coming to China in the late Qing dynasty.It was also the first school of this kind to teach the Chinese language.From its beginning,the college took measures in the aspects of the institutional guarantee,adequate supply of resources,qualified teaching staff and teaching contents to ensure the smooth teaching and learning of Chinese and to realize the ultimate objective of training missionaries for China.The teaching and learning of Chinese in this college not only helped train a number of sinologists in early modern times but also promoted the development of missionary education undertakings and Western sinology.
