王应麟教授认为,小儿厌食有先天及后天因素所致。小儿生理特点为"脏腑娇嫩、形气未充""脾常不足",后天喂养不当,或者久病伤脾均会导致厌食。主要责之脾胃,又与肾脏、肺脏有密切的关系,主要证型为脾胃不和。王师治疗小儿厌食的经验方"厌食合剂",由黄精、茯苓、佛手、木瓜、砂仁5味基础药组成,并随病情转归加减,随症配伍,具有调理脾胃、消食导滞、健脾益肾的功效,可以改善小儿厌食,增强患儿体质。
