Toxoplasma gondii is one of opportunistic pathogenic protozoan parasites. It is also one of the most common opportunistic infections in AIDS. The proportion of toxoplasmosis accounted for total opportunis- tic infection in HIV patients is 10% to 30%. According to the differences of gene type, Toxoplasma gondii could be divided into type Ⅰ , type Ⅱ and type Ⅲ. HIV patients are mostly infected with type Ⅰ . There are great differences in pathogenicity between type Ⅰ and the other types which are caused by different genes. The different genes are SA G1, SA G2, B1 and so on. Based on the current situation of HIV patients accompanied with Toxoplasma gondii, the main type of Toxoplasma gondii in HIV patients and the different genes between the various types, we elaborated on the situation of the HIV patients accompanied with Toxoplasma gondii in molecular epidemiology in this paper.
