摘要
文章通过对美国前100名高校网站的访查和问卷咨询,调研分析了每个美国高校图书馆的移动服务状况。调研数据表明,截止2014年秋天,这些受访高校图书馆都均提供了至少一项移动服务,大部分图书馆还提供多项移动服务。服务方式包括移动网站、短信服务、电子书刊、移动数据库及移动图书馆目录等。此外,即时咨询、社交媒体链接和移动应用亦非常普及。调查结果也发现利用网站响应式设计新的模式,即顺应用户移动访问图书馆完整网站的需求提供全方位移动服务,将会是高校图书馆未来的发展趋势。
What is the current state of mobile services among academic libraries of the country's top 100 universities?What can the experiences of these libraries teach us about best practices for mobile services at the university level? This student examined 100 top universities with the two research questions based on the U.S. News World Report's 2014 Best Colleges rankings. The most common mobile services available were e-books, mobile access to databases, and the catalog, mobile sites, and text messaging services. The survey results also confirmed that mobile services are ubiquitous among these libraries; in addition to e-books, mobile access to databases, mobile access to the catalog, mobile sites, and text messaging, chat/IM services and apps are also very popular mobile services. The biggest challenges in providing such services include time, money and expertise often required to mobilize services, communication among various library departments to create a united effort towards mobilization.
