摘要
The first reflector panel of mega radio telescope FAST is installed in Pingtang, southwest China＇s Guizhou Province, on August 2. Consisting of 4,450 such panels with a dish the total size of 30 soccer fields, FAST, a 500-meter aperture spherical telescope, is slated to be completed in September 2016. It will be the world＇s largest radio telescope, overtaking Puerto Rico＇s Arecibo Observatory, which is 300 meters in diameter.
