专业类著作汉译的编辑思考

Considerations about the Edit of the Chinese Translation of Professional Publications

专业类著作的汉译,首先是准确传递作者原著中的信息。但为了有效地与我国该专业的读者沟通,译者不应简单、机械地把一种文字变成汉字,而是应想方设法帮助文化背景不同、使用汉字却对这个专业感兴趣的读者更好地理解作者的原意。所以,专业类著作的译者应当在翻译过程中,在保持原著学术性、权威性的前提下多做一些编辑思考,以适应我国读者的要求。从专业术语的使用、句子的结构、地理名称的规范3个方面,讨论了专业类著作汉译的编辑问题。

The Chinese translation of professional publications is to accurately deliver the information in authors＇ original publications at first. However, in order to effectively communicate with the readers of this field in our country, the translator should not change a text into Chinese characters simply and mechanically, he should help readers who have different cultural backgrounds, use Chinese characters and are interested in this major understand better the author＇s original intention by all means. So, in the course of translation, the translators of professional publications should do more editing thinking under the premise of keeping the academic nature and authority of the original publications to adapt the demands of the Chinese readers. From three aspects of the use of specialized terminology, the structure of the sentence, and the specification of geographical names, this paper discusses the editing issue in Chinese translation of professional publications.
