In The Outsider and The Trial, the heroes were both executed not for what they actually did. In fact, the reason of the executions can be traced through what had happened to the modern Prometheus in Camus' Prometheus in Hell and Kafka^s Prometheus. Camus ~ Prometheus fights against the evil slavery of history and religious judgment by intensifying his own awakening conscience and the aesthetic power in recreating chaos; Kafka^s Prometheus turns into a rock for fear of pain, which reveals the truth of no salvation for the modern man. The end of Prometheus of Kafka somehow explains the dilemma and the collapse of Camus^s Prometheus myth both in public and in writing.
