《等待戈多》中树意象的文学人类学新解

A New Interpretation of Tree Image in “Waiting for Godot” Under the Perspective of Literary Anthropology

树意象在《等待戈多》中多次出现,不仅具有传统意义上的舞台造景功能,而且不断地参与剧情,更为引人注目的是,树意象的出现具有强烈而独特的宗教意味。本文将从弗雷泽的《〈旧约〉中的民俗》中对树意象的阐释入手,参阅圣经中的植物意象,分析《等待戈多》中的树用于标识地点和判定生死的双重性,以及树意象的出现所带来的艺术魅力与宗教内涵。在此基础上,探究生成这种等待状态的思想来源,即是一种弥赛亚观念。

Tree image, which appears several times in ＂Waiting for Godot ＂, not only has the landscape function in the traditional sense of the stage,but also constantly involves in the plot. More strikingly,tree image appears with a strong and unique religious meaning. This paper tries to interpret tree image from James George Frazer＇s Folklore in the Old Testament,refer to the plant images in the Bible,then analyze tree image which is used to identify the location and determine the duality of life and death in＂Waiting for Godot＂,and the appearance of tree image can bring the artistic charming and religious connotation. On this basis,it explores the thought source to produce the waiting state,which is the concept of Messiah.
