Libraries in American universities have gone through profound changes. As one of the most important learning hubs on campuses, they are at a critical moment in fitting into the current dynamic learning landscape. This paper is intended to introduce the new James B. Hunt Jr. Library at North Oarolina State University designed as an innovative type of learning com- mons. Through unconventional design strategies of building, interior, stack, and landscape, the library exemplifies new ways of integrating and transforming multifaceted informal learning spaces for the future,
