In the Internet era, class conversations and debate extend to every corner of campus life as an "informal" learning approach. The corridors, cafe, courtyards and other outdoor common space provide a stage to such incident "informal " learn- ing activities, and becoming an important part of the "informal learning space". Responding to these learning approach, Harvard University started the Harvard Common Space program since 2009, with a smart design strategy combining modern design element to the heavy history breath of the campus. By activating different attributes of each outdoor public space, the 300 year old campus provides opportunities to encourage interactions of various campus groups.
