In 1989, a grave was accidentally discovered when building the railway in Linfen City. The epitaph yielded from the tomb showed that the owner of the tomb was Darughachi, who was a designated official in the Mongol Empire and in Yuan Dynasty in charge of the handicraft industry in Pingyang Lu (nowadays Linfen in Shanxi Province). According to the epitaph, the occupant went to the Golden Horde three times to submit taxes and tributes to Batu, khan of the Golden Horde. With the epigraph, literature and archaeological discoveries, the author discusses the role of Pingyang Lu as a fief of the Golden Horde, the posts and routes from the inland to the South Russian steppe, and the contents of annual taxes.
