On Integral Construction of Citizenship Education into China's Ideological and Political Instruction

公民教育为促进人的全面发展、民主政治的维系与良性运行提供了文化支持。我国思想政治教育缺失公民教育的基本内容,全球化时代民族国家面临的冲击和我国社会主义特色的民主与法治国家建构呼唤公民教育。

Citizenship Education instructs people how to self-identify themselves as social members and how to attribute themselves into a national community. Apart from promotion for individual＇ s overall development, it provides cultural back-up for normal running of democratic politics. China＇ s ideological instruction process, however, is in bad need of such education which has become an imperative to construct a socialist state with an adequate democracy and law. This is especially true when a national state is subject to the impact during the time of globalization.
