Cognitive Differences between the Languages Used by Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine and an Analysis of Their War Metaphor

在中医和西医跨文化交流的过程中,有很多语言无法实现对等翻译,究其原因,在于中医和西医在语言认知上存在差异,这些差异来源于哲学思想的不同和民族心理的不同。这些差异包括战争隐喻在语言上的表现。东西方对于战争的认知既有相同之处,也有相异之处,表现在中医和西医的语言上同中有异。中医的战争隐喻具有较强的系统性,它的隐喻可以映射到战争的各个方面。

In the cross-cultural communication between the Traditional Chinese Medicine and western medicine, many words cannot get their equivalent translation. This is caused by the cognitive differences between the languages used by TCM and western medicine. The differences originated from the differences between their different philosophical thoughts and different national psychology. One of the differences is the expression of war metaphor. There is something in common and something in difference between the cognition towards war of both the easterners and the westerners. Therefore, the situation is the same of the languages used by them. Moreover, the war metaphor of TCM is more systematic and it can be mapped to each aspect of the war.
