The paper takes advantage of linguistic schema, content schema and rhetorical schema of cognitive schema theory to carry out a comprehensive analysis on writing in business English.The paper finds out that to motivate, construct and perfect relevant schema become decisive in business letter writing.Combined with real teaching, the paper discusses and illustrates how to motivate and con-struct schema of students to help students of business English and international trade major to express the real purposes in business.
