英语学习者段落承题方式与修辞关系研究 被引量:9

Topic supporting and rhetorical relations in EFL learners' paragraphs

摘要 Reid(2000)和Allison&Wu(1999)认为,段落的第一承题句与主题句一样,对于段落一致性和连贯性具有非常重要的作用。本研究考察了220个段落的承题方式以及主题句与第一承题句之间的修辞关系。修辞关系的鉴别采用修辞结构理论所提出的概念,并进行进一步界定。结果发现,直接承题的段落总体上多于间接承题;与自由段落写作相比,学习者在段落续写中英语修辞意识较强;对于段落续写中较容易发挥的普遍话题,间接类的修辞关系则采用较多。 Reid(2000) and Allison and Wu(1999) contend that the first supporting sentence of a paragraph plays the same important role as the topic sentence in unity and coherence.In this study,220 paragraphs written by second-year English majors were analyzed rhetorically,with the purpose of investigating the indirectness and the rhetorical relations between the topic sentence and the first supporting sentence of each paragraph.Results show that more paragraphs tended to be supported directly than indirectly,and that the learners had much rhetorical awareness and resorted to directness more frequently in paragraph writing with given topics than in free paragraph writing(i.e.essay writing).Moreover,learners preferred to employ indirect rhetorical relations when writing the paragraph with a popular topic.
