摘要
对中国人物传记的研究,历来是美国中国学的重要组成部分,把握美国学者的中国人物传记研究,有助于全面认识美国中国学的走向和特点。美国学者在中国人物传记研究方面成果丰富,政治人物传记和文化人物传记为两大支柱,人物传记研究亦为博士论文重要选题。从特点上看,美国的中国人物传记研究扎实严谨,注重传主思想的研究,注意东西方传记特点的比较。从背景主轴分析,美国的中国人物传记研究大多出于对华发展战略和国家长远利益的现实考量,其研究对象、方法和内容受学术思潮影响颇大,且撰写人物传记往往成为美国学者产生中国研究兴趣的重要"突破口"。我们应以批判的眼光和立场看待他们的研究,借鉴其经验,推动中国21世纪人物传记研究的发展。
The study of Chinese Biography remains one of the significant components of China Studies in the United States.It helps to make a full comprehension of the trend and characteristic of China Studies in the United States if we master them.The author has summarized the main Chinese Biographic works by American scholars,and focused on their research features,resources,contributions,and shortcomings.He concludes that Chinese historians should look at their researches critically and draw on their experience in order to promote the studies of Chinese Biography in the coming years.
