The pornographication of internet literature in China is becoming increasingly conspicuous with its development. This article discusses a number of symptoms of pornographication of internet literature from the angle of literary sociology with the view that the pornographication is, to a certain degree, related to the traditional literature since the Ming and Qing dynasties. Conclusions from a field research show that, on the one hand, there is a social consensus against pornography in China as authorities concerned conduct checks via government control, public reporting and screening through keywords as part of its management of the pornographication of internet literature, and, on the other, internet fiction has presented a great impact and challenge to the traditional system of publication and censorship.
