The Mission of Japanese Studies for the "Strategic Communication"

中日关系是中国对外关系中最重要的双边关系之一。日本研究是中国国际问题研究的重要领域。学术研究的成果在于应用。日本研究刊物和研究机构负有"战略传播"的使命:协调政府、智库和民间组织的对日政策,加强对第三国的传播,还要积极发挥对中国民众的日本观的影响力,并对日本政府发话,也对日本民众发声,增加对草根和有识之士两层的话语力。中国的日本研究任重道远。

The Sino - Japanese relations are one of the most important bilateral relations in Chinese foreign relations, with the Japanese studies as one essemial area of Chinese studies of international relations. The academic research result should be applied in the practice. The journals and research institutes relating to Japanese studies should undertake the mission for the ＂strategic communication＂, playing a coordinating role among the government, think- tanks and non- governmental organizations in the making of policy towards Japan, promoting the communication with other countries, working actively in influencing Chinese view on Japan, speaking to the Japanese government as well as the Japanese people in order to enhance the influence on grassroots and intellectuals in Japanese sociality. In that aspect, the Japanese studies in China has a huge and long- term task.
