汉英翻译的文化空缺现象研究

Study on Cultural Vacancy in Chinese-English Translation

翻译不仅是两种语言的交流,更是两种文化的交流。中西文化由于在宗教、社会习俗、意识形态、经济体系等方面都有巨大的差异,所以在翻译的时候经常会出现文化空缺的现象。在英汉翻译的过程中应本着文化平等的态度,符合文化交流的客观要求,尽量运用异化译法,采取音译、替换和直译加注等弥补文化空缺的不足之处。

Just as we all know, translation is not only the communication of two languages, but also of two cultures. As there are great differences between Chinese and western culture in such aspects as the religion, social customs, ideology, and economic system, the phenomenon of cultural vacancy in Chinese--English translation is inevitable. Therefore, this article argues that in the process of Chinese-- English translation, we should try to use the foreignizing translation with an attitude of cultural equality in order to meet the objective demands of cultural communication. Besides, we should adopt appropriate translation in the face of cultural vacancy,use transliteration, replace, and literal translation plus anno- tation, etc. to fill the gap of cultural vacancy.
