On the Esthetic Features of Ye Xiaoluan's Poetry

晚明才女叶小鸾在其短暂的一生中留下了近200首诗词。这些诗词的美学特征为:描写少女情怀及生命的本真状态时活泼乐观、用词新颖,具有清新浓丽、语淡情深的特点;在描写少女闺情和朦胧性爱方面具有一种哀婉缠绵、隐约含蓄的美学风格;具有浓厚的梦幻色彩、悲剧意识和仙道思想。这既是人性觉醒的表现,又是晚明思想的曲折反应。

Ye Xiaoluan, a gifted female in late Ming Dynasty, left about 200 poems in her life. The esthetic features are as follows. When describing the teenage girls＂ emotions and the natural state of life, the poems are active, optimistic and novel in diction and characterized by the fresh language and deep feelings. When describing girls sentiments and obscure sex, they are sorrowful and implicit. The poems are endowed with dreaming color, tragic feelings, and celestial and Taoist ideas. This is both the illustration of the awakening of humanity and the indirect reflection of the thoughts in late Ming dynasty.
