To correctly understand the formation of modern nationality, we must examine it in a long historical context. As a diverse society, pre-colonial Yorubaland, with many communities and states, was not wholly unified. However, mutually linked by cleverly using the myth of Oduduwa and marriage ties, these communities and states established various forms of interaction network, such as kinship, affinity, trade, war, and to develop the centripetal force for integration and prepare conditions for the construction of Yoruba in the modem time. B cultural exchanges and so forth, a historical basis and objective ut the centrifugal factors relevant to the nationality have been intentionally omitted. From a theoretical point of view, only by using "primordialism" and "constmctionlism" theory under the same analytical framework can one truly grasp the intrinsic context of nationality construction.
