摘要
《蝴蝶君》是黄哲伦根据20世纪80年代发生在法国的"中国蝴蝶君"间谍案而创作的戏剧。《蝴蝶君》解构了普切尼的戏剧《蝴蝶夫人》,被认为是对传统东方主义的颠覆,不仅解构了东方女子的刻板形象,也颠覆了原有的东西方权力关系。
M. Butterfly was finished in October in 1986. The play is based on a real spy case, Chinese M. Butterfly, which happened in France in 1960s. M. Butterfly is the first Chinese play that was performed at Broadway. David Henry Hwang was honored with Tony Award for best play in 1988 and he is the first Chinese American playwright who has won the great prize. M. Butterfly deconstructed Puccini＇s Madame Butterfly. The play is considered as a subversion of the original orientalism. It not only deconstructs the sexist and racist stereotype of the Orient, but also subverts the original relationship of western dominance and Eastern submissiveness.
