From the design and the construction, the paper has the comprehensive comparison between thin-wall pier and buttressed pier which are commonly used in the single-arch bridges on expressways, and researches the development of the pier forms by combining with the circum- stances in Shanxi Province, so as to enhance the speedy development of roads and bridges.
