海派艺术的现代性论辩

On the Modernity of Shanghai Style Art

海派艺术不是现代派艺术,而是具有现代性属性的艺术。作为现代派的艺术,特别强调风格的时间性,而作为海派的艺术,则主要强调其风格的地域性。如果说,对作为艺术的现代派来说,是一种空间的时间结构,呈现的是一种时间状态;那么,对作为艺术的海派来说,则是一种时间的空间结构,呈现的是一种空间状态。就这种意义上说,现代(主义)派艺术的运动是一种纵向的时间轴运动,海派艺术的运动则是一个横向的空间轴运动,或者确切地说,是一种空间与时间共同生成的复合轴运动。海派艺术的现代性属性是一种对现代社会具有适应性和前沿性能力的属性,一种特殊的创新性——具有市场意义的创新能力。海派艺术的这种味道"制造"了海派艺术的魅力——不仅与中国艺术,而且是与世界艺术的差异与距离的魅力。

Shanghai style art is not modernist art; rather, it is an art with modernity. While modernist art put particular emphasis on timeliness, Shanghai style art mainly emphasizes on the regional attributes of its style. If we consider the modernist art as the temporal structure space that shows a temporal state, then Shanghai style art can be regarded as the spatial structure of time that shows a spatial condition. In this sense, the modernist art movement is a vertical movement along the time axis, whereas the Shanghai style art movement is an art movement that combines both temporal and spatial attributes. The modernity of Shanghai style art is an advanced property that is adaptable to modern society and a special kind of innovativeness - the ability to create market significance. Such properties - the special taste of Shanghai style art ＂manufactures＂ the charm of Shanghai style art - a charm of being different and dependent from not only Chinese art, but also the world art.
