论出版商对《项狄传》文类属性的影响

A Study of the Publisher's Influence on the Generic Nature of “Tristram Shandy”

从20世纪50年代以来所形成的斯特恩研究传统来看,《项狄传》是讽刺文还是小说的文类定性始终是评论界的研究焦点,但鲜有人论及出版商在《项狄传》文类属性形成中的作用。文章分析斯特恩与出版商的协商过程,指出斯特恩在出版商的引导下有意识地去除《项狄传》的讽刺文属性,融入小说属性。

Considering the studies of Laurence Sterne since 1950s, a hot topic is whether ＂Tristram Shandy＂ is a satire or novel. However, the publisher＇ s role that influences its genre category is rarely concerned. By analyzing the negotiation process between Sterne and publisher, it is pointed out that Sterne got rid of the satire features under the guidance of the publisher and meanwhile employed more novel elements.
