A Talk on “Small”

近年来,"小"在现代汉语中,尤其是在口语和网络中的出现频率越来越多,而且多是充当修饰语。"小"充当修饰语,后面既可以修饰体词性成分,也可以修饰谓词性成分。"小"充当修饰语的语法功能具有其特殊的语义和语用意义,且"小"的这些语义和语用意义能够产生并为大众所接受和使用也别具原因。

In recent years,the＂small＂is becoming more and more popular in contemporary Chinese,especially in the spoken language and the network and most are to act as a modifier.When＂Small＂acts as a modifier,it can not only modify substantive components,but also decorate predicative constituents.This article attempts to discuss ＂small＂---its grammatical function and its semantic,pragmatic meaning and the reasons why its semantic and pragmatic meaning can be accepted and used by the public.
