Ideology Construction and Logic of Power in Shanghai Shikumen Buildings

上海的石库门建筑作为见证近现代历史变迁的建筑之一,始终表征了一种辩证的意识形态。石库门在特定的时代语境中被建构了稳定的美学意义,反之,也在特定的时代语境中体现了历史的意识形态变迁,而这种建构背后的权力逻辑和意识形态也成为我们体验历史的中介。这样,石库门在异质性的时间和空间中成为一座观测历史的地标。

As one of the architectures that has witnessed the changes in modern history, buildings of Shikumen style are al- ways characterized with the dialectical nature of ideology. In each particular age, a stable aesthetic significance is constructed in Shikumen buildings, which in turn reveals the change of ideology in history. The logic of power and ideology behind the aesthetic construction provide a medium for people to experience history, and for this reason Shikumen has become a landmark for people to observe history in heterogeneous time and space.
