日本当代作家村上春树在其小说《天黑以后》中,艺术地表现了他对都市生活中"恶"的理解。他认为,"恶"存在于每个人的人性深处,具有普遍性。有些"恶"的表现是外在的、物理式的,而有些"恶"的表现则是内在的、精神上的。通过塑造高桥和浅井玛丽这两个人物,表现出作家期待生活中的"恶"最终得到救赎的愿望,也为读者指明了心灵的方向。

Haruki Murakam, Japan＇s contemporary author, manifests artistically his understanding for ＂evil＂ in city life in his novel After Dark. He believes that ＂evil＂ exists in the deep essence of every human being and should be a universal phenomenon, and some ＂evil＂ performances are external and physical while some others are inner and spiritual. The author, by shaping the two characters of Takahashi and Asai Marys, shows his expectation of the re- demption of the ＂evil＂ in life and also points out the spiritual direction for readers.
