The thesis holds that aesthetic value of gardens in the southern Yangtze River in late Ming Dynasty is greatly related to scholars＇ ideal- ogies. Through recognizing scholars＇ ideological conflict in the southern Yangtze River, it analyzes the aesthetic complication and decadence of gardens in the southern Yangtze River, considers current garden designing aesthetic characteristics, so as to call for brief and natural garden beauty at present.
