《归雁》浸透着痛失丈夫又孤寂无靠的庐隐极度的悲伤与深沉的孤寂。庐隐借女主人公纫菁之口,抒写她在内力(内心的情感需求,个性解放等)与外力(社会规范、舆论、礼教等)之间痛苦挣脱的一段心路历程。《归雁》标志着庐隐思想与人生的转型,她的人生观由极度的悲哀开始转向热烈的追求,但是另一方面,又不敢打破礼教的藩篱,所以她的情感是纠结的。她的矛盾、悲哀与无助都透露着在回归与挣脱之间的苦苦挣扎,庐隐在情与理、旧爱与新爱、悲哀与快乐之间徘徊。

The novel Gui Yan is full of the author＇s sadness and loneliness. Lu Yin depicted a heroine, Ren Jing, to express the struggling and conflict between her own feelings（the affection need and individual liberation etc） and external factors（the social norm, consensus, and ethics etc）. Gui Yan is a sign that Lu Yin＇s mind and life were changing. Her outlook of life also changed from overwhelming negative to positive. But on the other hand, she did not dare to burst the restraints, which made her entangled. Her contradiction, sadness and helplessness showed the struggling and wander between emotion and reason, new and old love, sadness and happiness.
