Mitogen-activated protein kinases(MAPKs) mainly included extracellular signalregulated kinas(ERKs) family, the c-Jun NH2-terminal kinases(JNKs) family and p38 MAPKs family. They play a well-recognized role in neural plasticity and inflammatory response. p38 MAPK signal transduction pathway is one of the multiple parallel MAPK signal transduction pathways, involving in the formation and maintenance of pain. p38 MAPK induces a variety of intracellular responses associated with neuropathic pain and other chronic pain. Thus, specific targeting p38 MAPK molecule and its signaling pathway represent potential therapeutic strategies for pain management.
