Struggle over Currency in Central China Anti-Japanese Base Areas

The Central China Anti-Japanese Base Areas fought rigorously with Japan＇ s puppet government behind enemy lines in an arduous struggle over currency. In this struggle, the base areas founded their own banks, issued their own currency and formed their own currency system in order to withstand the invasion of the currency issued by the puppet government. For a time, the puppet currency had a widespread circulation in the base areas, but was eventually driven out of the base areas by the functional base-area currency, which had become a uniform currency throughout the base areas and helped to stabilize the base market. The fact that this currency replaced the puppet legal tender is considered ＂a great revolution in the base area history＂, because it reinforced public identity of the Anti-Japanese democratic regime in Central China.
