“唯女子与小人为难养也”考辨——兼论孔子并无歧视妇女意

孔子"唯女子与小人为难养也"一语,其实际语义是:"女子跟小人相处是很困难的"。"与"的介词性质是正确理解孔子原意的关键;孔子不曾受到过女性的伤害,不具备歧视妇女的生活经验和心理意识;从前后语境看,孔子对妇女非但没有歧视之意,反倒深具关怀之情。孔子对女人并无偏见,历来加给孔子"歧视妇女"的冤案,可以休矣。

About Confucius＇ famous remark ＂girls and inferior men are hard to get along with＂.What he actually meant in this sentence is＂it is hard for girls to get along with inferior men＂.The women that were close to Confucius,is not at all to hurt him.So Confucius,and comes to the conclusion that there is not the least indication of discrimination against women in the ancient scholar＇s life experience or mindset.In doing so the paper puts right to a wrong that has been done to the great philosopher for more than a millennium.
