莫言的长篇小说《天堂蒜薹之歌》以个人化记忆的方式叙述了天堂县"官逼民反"的蒜薹事件,呈现了20世纪80年代中国农村的另一种现实。这是建立在个人记忆基础之上的对于20世纪80年代中国农村和农民生存现状的个人化书写,它颠覆了我们对于80年代中国农村的符号化记忆。莫言的个人化书写可以让一些个人记忆重新浮出水面,揭开被集体记忆所压抑的部分记忆。

Mo Yan narrates the group event of garlic according to individual memory in ＂the songs of garlic in Heaven Country＂,presenting another kind of reality on Chinese country in 1980＇s. This is the individual writing on Chinese country and peasants in 1980＇s basing on individual memory and it overturns our symbol memory on Chinese country in 1980＇s. The individual writing makes the personal memory floating above the water and discloses the personal memory being depressed by collective memory.
