Continue the Tradition and Evolution:the Interpretation of Folk Culture Dragon Lantern Dance under the Flexible Battle for the Clan Force

舞龙灯是中华民族的一项传统娱乐活动。在传统的乡土社会中,舞龙灯与人们的社会生活、地方文化习俗以及民间信仰紧密联系在一起,其功能主要体现在娱乐性上。在社会转型背景下,舞龙灯逐步成为宗族势力之间柔性较量的表达工具,象征意义逐步消解,其功能从娱乐性向工具性转变,在这背后是宗族势力借助舞龙灯来不断唤醒宗族意识、强化宗族观念以及整合宗族内部的各种资源,使本宗族在村庄社会性竞争中赢得优势地位,从而实现本宗族在村落中的利益最大化。

Dragon lantern dance is a traditional entertainment activity of the Chinese nation with long history and cultural accumulation. In traditional rural society, Dragon Lantern Dance is linked closely with social life, local cultural custom and folklore religion, whose mainly function is entertainment. In the background of transformation, Dragon Lantern Dance gradually becomes an expression tool of flexible battle between clan forces. Its function transforms from entertainment to instrumental, while the symbolic significance slacks step by step. The clan force wants to awake the clan consciousness, strengthen clan conception and integrate internal resources by the light of Dragon Lantern Dance, in order to make patriarchal clan win the dominant position in the village social competition, thus maximizing patriarchal clan’s profit in the village.
