Spread of Early Chinese Films in Singapore(1924-1925)

20世纪20年代初,中国电影事业逐步兴盛并开始迈向海外,在华侨华人聚居地区传播。1924-1925年间,新加坡掀起了一股中国电影热潮,从事中国电影引进业务的影业公司从无到有发展到8间,放映中国电影的影院达5家,观众群体遍布华侨华人各阶层。其原因主要在于新加坡华侨华人人口、经济等方面的增长。

In the early 1920 s,with the Chinese film industry gradually flourishing,Chinese movies started to go overseas and spread in overseas Chinese communities. In 1924 and1925,there arose a mass fervor about Chinese movies in Singapore. Within just two years,firms engaged in importing Chinese films grew from zero to 8 and 5 movie theater were showing Chinese films and audience were spread across all segments of the society. The reason lay in the growth of the Chinese population there and the economy.
